Shutdown Procedures

Because the operation of these engines is so complex and the potential for electrocution is present, emergency responders should make every effort to get help from trained railroad personnel. If no help is available, emergency responders should only attempt to shut down the locomotive using fuel cut-off switches, which are located on both sides of the locomotive and inside the cab on the Engineer side. Any other shutdown procedures are to be attempted only by trained railroad personnel.

Please note: using the shut-off switches does not remove the electrical hazards on the locomotive.

[the fueld cut-off is accessible on both sides of the locomotive and on the inside cab on the Engineer side]
