Vadalism, Theft & Trespassing

Rail cars and intermodal trailers, which carry anything from toys to fertilizer to military supplies, are sometimes targets for vandalism and theft. When responding to a crime, remember that the same safety procedures apply in a rail yard. Individuals who trespass or ride trains are known to commit crimes against the railroad and on occasion are using the railroad to avoid detection by public law enforcement agencies because they are wanted for other crimes. Trespassing in a rail yard, railroad property, or riding on a freight or intermodal train is dangerous and illegal. CSX Police apprehend and remove thousands of trespassers each year and criminally prosecute persons who commit crimes against the railroad.
