Hazard Classes

The nine recognized hazard classes can be identified by type of placard and hazard class number. These classes are:
- Explosives
- Compressed Gases
- Flammable Liquids
- Hazardous Solids
- Oxidizers
- Poisons
- Radioactive Materials
- Corrosive Materials
- Miscellaneous
If in doubt, assume that hazardous materials may be present, and in every incident, make sure you isolate the area to prevent further danger to the public until railroad personnel arrive.
