Transportation Department & Other Personnel

The Transportation Department manages the movement of railcars and trains, and transportation managers, called trainmasters, respond to and assist in managing rail incidents. They can also assist you in reading and interpreting rail paperwork.
Other railroad personnel that can provide assistance include the following:
- Mechanical Department, which inspects and repairs moving equipment and oversees wreck clearing and re-railing operations after derailments
- Engineering Department, which maintains track and signal systems
- Hazardous Materials Team, which consists of specially trained railroad hazmat specialists
- Railroad Police Special Agents, General Claims Representatives, and Environmental Specialists who assist public agencies during emergencies
